Why volunteer for P3 Foundation?
P3 Foundation wants to put poverty in the past. If that's something you want to do, we're the place to do it.
We are New Zealand's youth movement against extreme poverty and for sustainable development. We are youth-led, so young New Zealanders like you have a chance to make a real impact by volunteering. Our volunteers don't just support our paid staff (in fact, our paid staff support our volunteers!) or make fundraising phone calls. People (like you!) who volunteer create, design and run our campaigns. Our volunteers have done incredible things - from creating a social business to supply rainwater tanks to isolated villages in Tonga, to signing one of the country's biggest cafe chains onto a Fair Trade campaign, to flying to Venezuela to be part of civil society's input into the Paris climate agreement.
Oh, plus, we reckon we have pretty awesome team culture. We can't wait to see what you'll do with it.
What do you get out of it?
Not only do you get to work closely with a bunch of incredible young people to fix things that are broken in our world, but you will learn skills and work habits that might just change your life's trajectory. Volunteering for P3 can transform both some of the world’s most vulnerable people's (who volunteers like you are helping) lives and livelihoods, and your own life or career path.
Not meaning to brag, but we think our volunteers are pretty incredible people - and our alumni have told us that P3 Foundation has helped them go on to do epic things. Like, seriously: Plastic Bottle Kayak, The Learning Collaborative, the Aotearoa Youth Leadership Institute and we don't even know what other incredible stuff came out of the collective minds of our alumni when they were at P3.
Our alumni include field workers at development agencies, social entrepreneurs and business founders, professionals of every type (from lawyers and accountants, to doctors turned entrepreneurs, to teachers and educators!) and all kinds of scholarship winners - including two Rhodes Scholars and a few Fulbright Scholars. We like to think that volunteering with P3 helped to unlock the awesome in our alumni - and they've told us that too!
